Before You Start
You need an Android tablet or phone on Android 8.0 or later, with a screen lock (a PIN or password) set, and a network connection for pairing.
- Update Android, set a screen lock in Settings › Security, and turn off notifications from other apps.
- Download Agoo Kiosk from the apps page on agoohq.com and install it. The tablet asks once to allow installing from your browser.
- Open Agoo Kiosk. After the short intro, it shows Set up this kiosk.
In the Console, go to ConsoleDevicesPair a device, choose A tablet or phone, the site, entrance and mode, then select Create code.
- On the tablet, tap Scan the pairing code and point the camera at the QR code, or type the code.
- Allow the camera when the kiosk asks for it.
- Set the device PIN in Devices, then pin Agoo Kiosk to the screen from its device menu.
Good to Know
- If the tablet is signed in to a Google account, use one that belongs to your organisation.
- The kiosk keeps the screen on while it's open, so there's no screen timeout to change.
- Staff cards need a tablet or phone with NFC. Many budget tablets don't have it.
- A device that can't prove it's genuine still pairs, and shows as Not checked in Devices.
If Something Goes Wrong
- The install is blocked. Allow installing apps from your browser when Android asks, then open the download again.
- "Pairing didn't work. Try again." Check the tablet is online and make a new code with New code.
- The tablet won't keep charging. Use the manufacturer's charger. Cheap chargers often can't keep up with a screen that's always on.
