Lock a Kiosk to Agoo

Keep a public tablet on Agoo Kiosk with Guided Access on iPad or screen pinning on Android.

On an iPad or iPhone:

  1. Open Settings › Accessibility › Guided Access and turn it on.
  2. Tap Passcode Settings › Set Guided Access Passcode and choose a passcode only your admins know.
  3. Set Display Auto-Lock to Never so the screen stays on.
  4. Open Agoo Kiosk, triple-click the side or top button (or the Home button), then tap Start.

On an Android tablet or phone:

  1. Open Settings, search for pin, turn app pinning on, and turn on asking for your PIN before unpinning.
  2. In Agoo Kiosk, open the device menu with the device PIN.
  3. Under Lock-down, tap Pin Agoo Kiosk to the screen and confirm.

Good to Know

  • The device menu shows whether the kiosk is locked, for example Locked to Agoo with Guided Access, or Not locked: visitors could leave the app.
  • To leave Guided Access, triple-click again and type its passcode. On Android, tap Unpin in the device menu.
  • iPads managed with an MDM can use its Single App Mode instead, which stays locked through restarts.
  • A restart ends screen pinning on Android and Guided Access on iPad until someone starts it again. Check kiosks after a power cut.

If Something Goes Wrong

  • There's no pin option on Android. Menus differ between manufacturers. Search Settings for "pin app" or look under Security.
  • The iPad screen goes dark. Set Display Auto-Lock to Never in the Guided Access settings.
  • Someone left the app. Lock it again, and check the passcode isn't the same as the device PIN.
