Before You Start

Pick a sender ID of up to 11 letters and numbers, with no spaces or symbols, that clearly belongs to you, such as VoltaBank. One that looks like another organisation, a bank or a government agency is likely to be refused.

  1. Contact Agoo support from the ? at the top of the Console, with the sender ID you'd like and your organisation's registered name.
  2. If the sender ID isn't obviously your name, explain the link, such as "RidgeAcad is short for Ridge Academy".
  3. Wait for approval. Agoo submits it to the mobile networks for you, and tells you when it's approved or refused.

Once it's approved, new SMS go out under your sender ID automatically.

Good to Know

  • On Starter, a custom sender ID is a one-off GH₵99, sent as a quote to accept in Billing. On Growth, Pro and Enterprise it's included.
  • Until it's approved, everything keeps working under Agoo's sender ID.
  • Approval is up to the networks, so don't plan a launch around a fixed date.
  • People can't reply to a sender ID made of letters. That's why actions in Agoo's SMS use short links.

If Something Goes Wrong

  • Your sender ID was refused. The most common reason is a name that doesn't clearly match your organisation. Choose a closer match and ask again.
  • You want to change it later. A new sender ID needs a new request and a new approval.
