Keep Checking People In When the Network Drops

What the Kiosk app keeps doing offline, and what reception should do until it reconnects.

  1. Keep using the kiosk as normal. Check-ins, passes, check-outs, clock-ins, parcels, vehicles and feedback all work offline.
  2. Call or WhatsApp hosts from your own phone while the kiosk is offline: they aren't told about their visitors until it reconnects.
  3. Decide host approvals at the desk if your rules need them.
  4. When the connection returns, let the kiosk sync. The status at the top says Syncing while it sends everything, oldest first.
  5. Open the device menu and check Sync for anything Agoo couldn't accept, and record it at the desk.

Good to Know

  • Everything is saved on the device first, with its original time. A visitor who checked in at 10:43 shows at 10:43 in the Console.
  • Nothing is sent twice, even if a send is interrupted.
  • Passes are checked on the device, and walk-ins are screened against the watchlist offline.
  • A kiosk in a computer's browser works online only and shows Please see reception without a connection.
  • Agoo Workspace keeps working offline too, for clocking in, approvals and the Desk.

If Something Goes Wrong

  • The kiosk has been offline for a long time. Check the Wi-Fi or data connection and the router's power. ConsoleDevices shows when it last synced.
  • Something is listed under Sync. Agoo couldn't accept it, for example because the visit was cancelled meanwhile. Record it by hand in the Console.
