How the Messaging Wallet Works

This guide explains how it all fits together. For one job at a time, the short articles in this topic have the exact steps.

Top up a prepaid cedi wallet for SMS, WhatsApp and AI beyond your plan's monthly allowance.

Every plan includes a monthly allowance of SMS, email, push and AI credits, and WhatsApp messages from Growth up. When you need more, you pay from a prepaid wallet in cedis, so you only pay for what you use.

How It Works

1. Your monthly allowance is used first. Allowances reset each month. Unused allowance doesn't carry over.
2. Then credits you've bought. SMS bundles and AI packs bought from the wallet are used once your allowance runs out. Top-ups, and the bundles and packs bought with them, can be used for 12 months from purchase; anything unused after that expires.
3. WhatsApp beyond your allowance is charged from the wallet per message.

The Messaging wallet in Console → Settings → Billing shows your balance, the SMS and AI credits left in bundles and packs, and each top-up, bundle and pack you've bought with the date it expires. The usage panel above it shows this month's SMS, WhatsApp, email and AI use against your plan's allowance.

Top Up

The Owner tops up in Console → Settings → Billing, from GH₵20 to GH₵20,000 at a time, or buys an SMS bundle or AI pack. Each is a one-off payment on Paystack's checkout, by Mobile Money or card, with an invoice and receipt like any other charge. Credit is added as soon as Paystack confirms the payment. Automatic top-up by card, when the balance runs low, is planned; until then, top up when the alerts below tell you to. See Payments for how each method works.

Low-Balance Alerts

After a top-up, we email the Owner when the balance falls below 20% of what it was just after that top-up, and again below 5%. The next top-up starts the count again. These emails are sent by Agoo and never use your allowance or your wallet.

SMS Bundles

Each reply your team sends to a visitor or guest, as text or a file, counts as one WhatsApp message; a follow-up after the 24 hours counts as five. Reactions and Agoo's automatic reply aren't counted. Each paid plan starts with a monthly budget for replies beyond the messages it includes (Starter GH₵100, Growth GH₵300, Pro GH₵1,000, Enterprise GH₵3,000), with alerts and an optional stop, which Owners and Admins change or remove at any time: see WhatsApp replies. On Free, your organisation doesn't send on WhatsApp. WhatsApp is never used for marketing or broadcasts.

Agoo Video is planned. When it ships, more video minutes for everyone in your calls come in packs bought from the wallet in the Console, never in the apps, and can be used for 12 months:

On Free, the 20 SMS are a one-off allowance, not monthly. On Starter, WhatsApp messages are paid from the wallet.

Expiry and Refunds

The terms of service set the rules for the wallet:

• 12 months. Top-ups, SMS bundles and AI packs can be used for 12 months from the date of purchase. Monthly allowances don't carry over.
• Credit for Agoo only. Wallet credit has no cash value, earns no interest and can't be transferred to another organisation.
• Refunds. Wallet credit isn't refundable, with two exceptions: if you top up by mistake and tell us within 14 days, we refund any of that top-up you haven't used; and if we end the agreement for any reason other than your breach, or stops offering Agoo, we refund your unused, unexpired purchased credit.

• Payments: Cards, Mobile Money and invoices.
• Notifications: Channels, fallbacks and quiet hours.
