Use Your Own Short-Link Domain for QR Codes

Give new tracked codes a short link on your own address, such as go.yourcompany.com, with one DNS record.

Before You Start

You need access to your domain's DNS settings, or someone who has it.

  1. Choose a short subdomain, such as go.yourcompany.com. Shorter links make smaller codes.
  2. Go to ConsoleSettingsDomains and add it as the short-link domain for tracked QR codes. Its status is Waiting for DNS.

  3. At your DNS provider, add the CNAME record the Console shows, and any TXT records, exactly as shown.
  4. Wait for its status to say Live, or select Check now.

Once it's live, Owners and Admins are emailed, and every tracked code made from then on uses your domain.

Good to Know

  • Codes made before keep the address they were made with, for ever. Adding a domain never changes a printed code.
  • This is separate from the domain for your visitor and booking pages. Use a different subdomain for each.
  • Your bare domain, such as yourcompany.com on its own, can't be used.
  • If you move to a plan without it, codes made with your domain keep working on it. New codes use Agoo's short address.
  • ConsoleQR codesSettings shows which short links your codes use.

If Something Goes Wrong

  • The check fails. The Console says why. Fix the record and select Check now.
  • You want to remove the domain. Keep it, and its DNS record, for as long as codes made with it are on display. Printed copies stop reaching Agoo once it's gone.
